Luke Kennedy - Chef, Cook, Butcher, Gardener, Soap Maker, Father, Husband
At The Butcher’s Lather Co., we believe the best skincare doesn't come from a lab—it comes from the land. We’ve stripped away the fillers, synthetic fragrances, and complex chemicals to get back to the basics of traditional soapmaking. Each bar is crafted using only 3 to 4 honest ingredients, centered around premium rendered fat sourced from ethically raised animals on small, local Ontario farms.
By honoring the "whole animal" philosophy, we transform what would be overlooked into a superior bar of soap. The result is a creamy, decadent lather that doesn't just clean—it deeply moisturizes. It’s the only soap I use every single day, and once you feel the difference of traditional animal fats on your skin, it will be the only one you use, too.
About Our Botanicals
Many of the botanicals used in our soaps come from our own garden. Sea buckthorn and elderberry are grown and harvested by hand, while lavender and cedar are selected for their natural fragrance and traditional use in skin care. Gardening is a long-standing hobby in our household, and working with these plants is part of the rhythm of how each batch of soap is made.
The botanicals are dried or infused into rendered fats to carry their colour, scent, and character into the final bar. No artificial dyes. No synthetic fragrance. No mystery ingredients. Just plants we grow, source, and handle ourselves.
The result is soap that reflects its ingredients honestly — subtle in scent, natural in colour, and grounded in real materials.
